Timisoara has a radial conformation, with one center to which all roads converge,where the city’s main activities are focused like court administration, finance services, hotels and commercial activity. Bega Bega Shopping Center is the only shopping center in downtown. The building was built as a department store in 1973. The height of the building is P+4, the maximum height is reached by the elevators + 27, 25m. Features: Two-way escalators, elevators, high capacity goods and people, sound system, TV system CI security system against burglary, fire signaling system. The shopping center has about 80 parking places.
After privatization the company in 1997, Bega had a profound transformation, the transformation that has propelled shopping center to a western type shopping center. An award was given by the Business Initiative DIRECTION (BID) in Spain (International Gold Star for Quality) in 1999. Even though it suffered various transformations over time, the building is now the main shopping center of the center. The building is composed of several independent buildings: one main and two side wings. The building is spread across four floors(with many shops) and basement floor(with Carfourr Supermarket) having a total commercial area of 8600 sq. meters, of which 7200 sq m hall sale. In 2005 was completed and opened a new wing of the mall Bega having a special architectural form advancing with the commercial area to 12,000 sq. feet.
